Events in 2020
Cancelled festivals, sporting events with no spectators, and people meeting fewer people. Nevertheless, there have been some highlights worth remembering from 2020 as well.
Sales Agent of the Year
In January, Norsk Tipping presented awards to the best sales agents from the previous year. City Lade was named Sales Agent of the Year 2019. Narvesen Ørsta, Meny Rykkin, MIX Rensåskiosken (Bodø) and Dagbladet also won awards.
Subscriptions
The new subscription service was launched in 2020 and is now available for Lotto, Vikinglotto, Eurojackpot, and Nabolaget. The number of customers choosing to use subscriptions almost tripled during the course of the year.
Flax turns 25
Flax was launched in 1995 and thus celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2020. The anniversary was marked with an exclusive scratch card, JubileumsFlax!
(L)Otto won the Gullfisken Award for advertising
After 53 adverts about Lotto millionaires not being like other millionaires, in autumn 2020 it was time to meet the Lotto millionaire’s dog, Otto.
Otto the dog charmed people with his cheery comments and lovely voice. The first ad featuring Otto won a Sølvfisk Award for October’s best TV advert before taking home the winner’s trophy and the annual Gullfisken Award in 2020. The ads featuring Otto are Norsk Tipping’s most popular ads in the past 3 years (source: Reklamebørs).
Awarding of Dream Scholarships
Over two weeks in June, Norsk Tipping and the Norwegian Council for Schools of Music and Performing Arts awarded Dream Scholarships to 26 talented young people within culture from across the country. The scheme was established in 2004 and is Norsk Tipping’s oldest cultural sponsorship scheme. A renewal agreement signed in 2020 ensures that even more scholarships will be awarded in the years to come.
Awards for ‘Vekking from Hamar’ campaign
In November, one of the advertising association ANFO’s annual Max Marketing Mix (MMM) awards was presented to Norsk Tipping’s Vekking fra Hamar campaign for the best use of data-driven technology. The campaign also won gold in the Entertainment category.
Launch of e-learning course for grassroots trainers
When the country shut down, Norsk Tipping and the NFF (The Norwegian Football Association) put together a new digital course for grassroots trainers. This led to many people choosing to spend the Covid-19 pandemic improving their skills as trainers and role models.
Digital seminar on responsible gaming with the pandemic as a backdrop
In October, Norsk Tipping arranged a digital seminar called ‘Gaming and Pandemics’. Important stakeholders were invited to share their experiences and insights into the impact the Covid-19 period has had on gaming patterns.
Norwegian Championships Week in the Hamar region
Norsk Tipping, the Norwegian Olympic and Paralympic Committee and Confederation of Sports, and NRK (Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation) arranged the Norwegian Championships Week in June. Covid-19 kept the spectators away, but many smaller sports got the chance to showcase themselves to a TV audience.
Utenforfloken
Norsk Tipping started the innovation project ‘Utenforfloken’ (‘Outside the Flock’) together with the Norwegian Football Association, OBOS and Æra. The goal is to find new initiatives that can prevent children and young people from being
excluded from society.
